This is a new one, for me at least.

I'm getting spam messages that in addition to offers for various medical stuff have chunks of The Hobbit in it.
Weird thing is that they come in on my work email addy, which is massively filtered and which I've never used for anything even remotely fandom related. I guess me and Tolkien were a match made in heaven ;)

Chapter 15
The Gathering of the Clouds
Now we will return to Bilbo and the dwarves. All night one of them
had watched, but when morning came they had not heard or seen any sign
of danger. But ever more thickly the birds were gathering. Their
companies came flying from the South; and the crows that still lived

I've got about 15 of those today. They all had different paragraphs, and the last one had this at the end.

The elves that were standing in the shallow.water heaved and shoved. The
barrels now all lashed together creaked and fretted..
This is a heavy load! some grumbled. They float too deep-some of
these are never empty. If they had come ashore in the daylight, we might
have had a look inside, they said.
No time now! cried the raftman. Shove off!

It's amused me no end. Glad to know I'm in good company . :)

Lol, good to know indeed *ggg*
The first one gave me a start and I started thinking frantically if I'd ever used the office email for some smut related purpose, but actually I never did.
I am now actually looking forward to going through my junk mail folder :)

It's curious, isn't it? More so because it came in on an address that I never use for fandom related stuff

Hmmm.... And [livejournal.com profile] brigantine1 wrote a splendid bit of VigBean last week based on the random words in a spam she'd received. What's going on?!

Lol, probably the spammers have found out that we will read just about anything if it's related to LOTR?!

Weird, but funny, too.. (Nevertheless annoying!)

I only get loads of spam from investment advisors - but no slogans like "Mordor - low price estate for everybody" or "Your yield - Elvish shipping companies"..

My spammers don't seem to think I'm interested in investments, usually all they rave about is Viagra and Rolex watches. This Hobbit stuff is definitely more intriguing *g*
