Lines


You look at the lines along the palm of your hand, idly remembering that wisewomen back in Gondor say that you can read a man’s whole life from those lines. Who he is, his past, his future, his life and death, his loves. You wonder what your lines say, but you have no skill at reading them.
Yet there are other signs you can read.

You trace with a finger the bite mark at the base of the thumb and the dried smear of semen at the heel of your palm.

And all you really need to read is there.
