A quote

I am not very creative tonight, it's been a difficult week and there are times I really wish I had no siblings, or trainees , or people I need to mother. It's probably a genetic defect but I've never wanted to be a mother.

Am about to be dragged off to a midnight concert, but I wanted to share this quote.
I hope [livejournal.com profile] kinseymill will forgive me, cause I told her I wanted to quote something she wrote to me but I haven't waited for her to say ok.

Quote:

"It looks like hot males only exist in our fantasies... and what makes it worse is that really we would want to see them shagging each other"

It is not a genetic defect. A genetic defect is exhibited by those who feel the need to breed and who then raise rotten awful children because they shouldn't have been parents in the first place.

Happily childless too, never been tempted to have a child, but people seem to think I have this urge to play mother to them, to give vent to some unfulfilled desire to be a mother.

I'm with [livejournal.com profile] thalassatx *points up* -- not a genetic defect at all. Why should women feel bad, selfish etc just because we have the ability to bear children but choose not to use that ability? We've got brains and intelligence, too, but nobody seems to mind when we choose not to use that (least of all, men *snort*)

One of the large offices I used to work at had a lot of middle-aged women... many of them would bug me endlessly with "When are you going to get married and have children?" It was almost like they couldn't bear to have a happy, single, childless woman in their midst, it was spoiling their mojo or something. I'd give them ten rational, intelligent reasons why I don't want to have children, and would then ask for five reasons why they chose to have kids. Rarely would I get more than one or two reasons from them, and that was usually along the lines of "Well, you know, that's what women do" or "I was in love with my husband". Umm, okay. And yet *I* was the one who was seen as misguided, selfish, irresponsible etc because I wasn't doing my "womanly duty" to society. BLECH!

I could rant about this for hours but I'll shut up now *g*

Lol, I think they find you a bit scary.. as to my womanly duty to society, I'd rather think of my duty to me. I was also thinking of the kind of indoctrination [livejournal.com profile] rinsbane has been having to put with, which drives me crazy.

And still, they come over to me, eyes all shiny and hopeful, dump their problems on my lap and expect me to give them the magic answer. I they just wanted to discuss their problems, ok, great, I'm here to listen and help if I can, but no.. here take this, give it back once it's set straight

*uffa*

Benvenuta nel club!
Nella mia vita è così da quando ero bambina. C'è sicuramente qualcosa in noi che attira quel tipo di persone. *g*

eek, I'm with you and [livejournal.com profile] milochka on this one. Who knows what I'll end up doing in the future, but whatever it is certainly won't be out of some imposed obligation. One of the nuns said to me the other day, "Seriously, if you don't get married and have kids, won't you feel unfulfilled, like some essential piece of you is missing?"

Uhmmm, who knows, but I don't think so. This coming from a woman who, being a nun, will never have kids and didn't want them... But such comments sort of pass in one ear and out the other these days. I practice selective hearing here *g*
