moldava: (Aragorn prancingpony by Wizzicons)
[personal profile] moldava
Still alive and still around ;)
Busy with lots of things, good ones like trips to Ireland this summer and Police concert ten days ago, and boring ones like lots of work.
And most of all still having VigBean and scions thereof as the only pairing ;)

This is an impromptu microficlet inspired by the way my neighbours' cat purrs. Could have been a drabble but I've become too lazy to trim down

“You need to keep quiet, or they will hear us..” Aragorn warns, hand pressing down on the other man’s mouth to silence him.

The hand turns the cry into a stifled sound rumbling deep in the man’s chest.

It reminds Aragorn of a cat he had in what now feels like a lifetime ago, a cat that, when stroked in the right way, would make a sound so hoarse and male it felt diminishing to call it a purr.

It reminds Aragorn of something Gandalf said back in Rivendell.

”You’re not to worry, Boromir is like a big tomcat, aggressive and hissing. But rub him the right way and you’ll get him to purr...”

He has certainly found the way to make the tomcat purr, Aragorn thinks, grinning in the dark as he wipes his sticky hand on the heavy cloth of the Gondorian’s cloak.

I am glad you are still with us *hugs tight* And ohh, for the trip to Ireland *smile*

And how very weird is it that the thing I love best about this piece is the sentence of Gandalf's and the fact that the cunning wizard knew that this would happen? *hugs some more*

*twirls you*

Ireland was pure bliss, though I drank far too much Guinness and it is the kind of magical place that makes it even hard to come back to the real world ;)

And Gandalf ever was a wise, far-seeing man *huggles*

Good to see you're still here! *hugs you tight*

And the thought of Boromir purring.... mmm, that's lovely. *grin* The question is, does Aragorn purr? Or is his more, growling friendly-like?

A lovely little ficlet, just the thing to put a smile on my face--thank you, dear!

Kings wouldn't purr, not seemly at all, even for kings-that-would-be ;)
But a friendly-like growl is certainly the thing to encourage a bristling steward *g*

*tight hugs*

Great to see you back around and even more wonderful that you pop up bearing such a wonderful ficcy! Made me purr indeed. But I'm glad that Gandy didn't go so far as to call Boromir a big pussy...

I'm never that far but time is a scarce commodity. I so wish one could buy time

Glad to see the purring spreading around and I really love the names you come up with for these two *g*

Oh - now that was lovely! And so right that Aragorn would know just how and where to rub to make Boromir purr. And I am left with a lovely image of Aragorn grinning in the dark!

*huggles* So good to see you writing again!

I try to write but time is scarce and longer things get stuck on my hard disk.

I think it would be a treat to hear Boromir purr *g*

Ohhh, good to hear from you *hugs you* happy to hear you had nice holiday. Hope RL isn't too stressful, and wow, so much in such a short piece :)

Boromir purring *sighs happily* Yes. I love the smug-confidence of Aragorn, but pray tell...how did Gandalf knew, exactly? ;)

Tanti, ma tanti, bacioni.

Ciao tesora!!
Coping with RL, ups and downs but trudging along ;)

pray tell...how did Gandalf knew, exactly? ;)

Oh no, missy, we're not getting into that.. Bori/Gandalf? no way.. maybe Gandalf had that kind of experience with Saruman? though S would me more the hissy kind of cat than the purry one

Rangers . . . always skulking around on the sly, preying on poor innocent Gondorians.

I totally agree on the slyness of rangers but I am not equally convinced of the innocence of Gondorians ;)

Ooh, this is lovely! For may years I had a wonderful cat that purred in just that way, so it really makes me smile to read this. I love Gandalf's insight into Boromir; of course he was talking about how to handle the prickly Boromir in a political sense, not a sensual one. Or maybe not!

Date: 2007-10-18 07:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] moldava.livejournal.com
It's amazing the kind of sound they make, isn't it?! so deep and saying "I am purring but I still am boss" ;)

And I devoutly hope that Gandalf's words were not based on any kind of sensual experience with Boromir *g*

I swear on Boromir's sword that I was just thinking about you, wondering where you were. I was planning on putting out a "has anyone seen Moldava" post, when I came across this.

So good to see you, and a pleasure as always to read you.
