The Barter Principle
Sep. 23rd, 2003 09:44 pmOut of curiosity.. am I the only one that has been operating on a barter principle for some time now?
I rarely buy things anymore, I trade..
Example. I've wanted to lay my grubby paws on Photoshop for some time now but it costs a bunch and the downloading queue is daunting. I found today that a colleague had the cd-rom cause it came with his printer. He doesn't need it and will lend it to me. In exchange he would like a Dido cd which I downloaded in about 30 minutes.
Next comes installing Photoshop. I'm a totally dummy, so I'll call my ex who's a whiz. He'll do anything for a good, home-made dinner so I will cook, he will eat anything in sight and install and we'll all be happy.
Another example. I need a thorough house cleaning and have no time or wish to do it myself. The caretaker's wife will gladly do it for me if I would check once a week how their daughter's faring with her English homework.
Money? Who needs money, it's just a matter of getting organized
